DIY Date Jar
Whether you have been together for 2 years or 20, I truly believe it is important to take time to continue to date your spouse, partner, significant other. To take the time to re-connect and enjoy each others company, I know though for myself and Tommy when date night comes around we often draw a blank on what we should do, where we should go and who should actually decide! Enter the date jar, when date night rolls around we can simply pull a date from the jar, making date planning a little easier while adding a little spontaneity and fun!
For our date jar I decided to break out my Cricut machine and do vinyl adhesives on little acrylic hexagons, along with a little date jar label and heart on the jar itself and I’m so glad I did, I just love the way it turned out.
I sat down with Tommy and we made a list of date ideas we had, so we both had input on our ideal dates. I’m so glad we did this together as he honestly came up with some of the best ones! I then broke our dates down into the following categories: at home, inexpensive, mid-range and finally more High-end. From there I chose colours for each of the categories so we could easily pick from the jar. I have listed our chosen dates below!

We chose to do more at home and inexpensive dates, even really the Mid range dates are all easier to do on a whim with not much planning and we chose a smaller list of high end styled dates, as more planning, scheduling and booking would be involved.
I wanted to make mine a little more decorative as it is going to live on the open shelving in my office, so my neutral loving self wanted it to blend in with the rest of my décor.
There are so many other ways you could do your own date jar:
- Painted Popsicles stick with the dates written on them
- little designed printed cards in a recipe styled box
- little coloured paper scrolls in a jar
- or even a simple checklist
I hope this inspired you to make a little date jar of your own, and if you do I would love to hear about any date suggestions you think we should add to ours!
Till next time!
