Decorating with Love

February 8, 2021

I love to switch things up for different seasons and holidays, Valentine’s included. For most holidays I tend to concentrate on our living room and kitchen as they are open concept and flow into each other, it is also the area we spend most of our time so what better place to add little touches of love! As you will probably begin to notice I am not big on bright colours and tend to lean to neutrals in our home and holidays are no exception. True to my style I have incorporated neutrals and shades of pink to celebrate the holiday.

This simple white xoxo was the perfect addition to our kitchen hutch
Below I added in another set of XO’s in a carved wood and painted a pale pink which pulls from the colour of the florals on the dining table.
Over on the kitchen island I added a little sweets station with cupcakes, strawberry marshmallows, cute boxed candy and other goodies in little white ceramic jars.
I found this cute little “made with love” canister at my local Homesense and I knew it would be the perfect addition, isn’t it the cutest?
On the other end of the island I layered a marble heart cutting board and wooden heart tray with a simple candle and pink tones prayer beads.
Moving into the living room I strayed a little from my pale pinks that I normally gravitate towards and picked up this cute deep pink xoxo pillow which was the same shade of pink in the florals that I used to transition from winter to spring through out the room.
Over on the coffee table I simply added a pale pink container candle, prayer beads and a sweet wooden tic tac toe board
I use prayer beads in my house through out the year as they add another layer of texture and interest, so it was an easy addition to complete this Valentine’s look

I love how the little touches to celebrate Valentine’s Day turned out in our home! Do you decorate for different holidays? and if so do you pick one area of your home or decorate through out? Would love to hear from you!
