The Perfect Design & Inspiration Board
With back to school hitting this past week, I thought it was the perfect time to tackle the pretty pins boards that have hung empty in my office for longer than I should admit. I always remember in school putting together collages from magazine clippings to show a peek into your favourite things, your likes, or quotes that stood out to you; which gave me the idea to do a version of just that on my office pin boards. So I grabbed a pile of magazines, scissors, and some little trinkets and started to create my design and inspiration boards.
For me I chose interior design images, along with images that represented things I love to do, places I love to visit and just things that I love in general.
I then added in other items to bring texture and layers to my boards, like this cute sign with “be your own kind of beautiful” which I love! a valentine given to me from my husband, an old antique key because I love antiquing and it’s also from Paris which was one of my favourite places to visit, hence the little Paris medallion. Then I simply glued a pin to this little crown as a nod to my love of castles, whenever we visit Scotland a castle visit is always a must!
A few other additions were these botanical post cards with coffee and tea plants, which if you know me and my love for coffee and tea couldn’t be more perfect. A card from one of my favourite stores to visit, cute little word plates, and when I made trip to my local paint store I grabbed some paint chips to bring in my favourite colours.
How cute is the little camera charm, to show my love for photography!
I love this little metal envelope I found at Michaels, it was galvanized but I gave it a quick coat of spray paint so it blended better with my board. It is the perfect spot to keep other inspiration pictures that I could swap out or even flip through!
I love how these turned out, all the different elements came together so well, and who doesn’t want a pretty inspiration board to glance at while you work! PS…. you don’t really see much of me on here, but the little pin with the girl on it is pretty much a cartoon version of me!
