Potting Benches & Peonies
I don’t know about you but I love it when it’s time to plant the garden, seeing the new blooms pop up and all the green goodness just makes me smile! I’m so lucky to have a handyman dad who is always quick to take my sketches and bring them to life! So with planting season rolling in I knew I wanted to add a little potting bench to the garden to house some tools, hold some garden herbs and give me a place to fill planters for around the yard. So with out further ado here she is, the cutest little potting bench!
I just love how it turned out from the vertical boards on the back, to the little shelf for my pots of thyme and the crisscross detail on the sides. Once it was all finished I painted it with Annie Sloan chalk paint in the colour Coco, I have used this paint outside before and it has held up really well I just give a fresh coat of paint every couple of years.
The perfect spot for my little bench was beside my peony garden, we have quite a small backyard but I knew I had to have one of my favourite flowers included. I transplanted these at the end of last summer and I was worried I wouldn’t get many blooms this year, but boy was I wrong as they thrived this year!
Those delicate ruffled petals are everything!
I only wish Peony season was longer!
I also picked up some new garden tools for myself this year and loved the classic style of these Kent & Stowe ones, then I saw this cute little string jute jar and scissors at my local dollar store, which is perfect for securing the Peonies when they bloom.
Penny definitely approves of the new potting bench and sometimes you can even find her lounging on the bottom shelf along with her sisters!
I have to admit I never used to be much of a gardener, and I have a lot to learn but I have found over the last few years that I have really started to love it! Do you love to garden and spend time working in your yard? If you have any tips or tricks send them my way! Thanks again for popping by, till next time!
