Once upon a time in a cozy little She Shed …
I am so excited to finally share my She Shed with you all, if you have been following along on Instagram you know this has been a project we have been working on for a while. Things were a little slow moving with the lovely {ah-hem rainy} weather we have been having soooo much of lately, however good things take time, and this little get away just a hop skip and a jump from our back door is definitely a good thing! What started off as our old garden shed got a major facelift and a lot of sprucing up to transform it into what it is today, so with out further ado I welcome you to the She Shed!
We moved the door, added windows, a little deck, shutters and window boxes to really turn this old garden shed into a space I just love spending time in. Who would have thought a small 8×10 space could be the perfect get away but it sure is.
The little window boxes were the perfect addition and I chose to add some wrought iron hinges to tie in the black elements, like the door handle, lantern and down spouts. I also used them on the side window shutters, that I painted the same pale shade of pink as the door, which sadly doesn’t show up as well in the photos as it does in person, which just means you will all have to come over and see it for yourself right !?!?!?
The addition of the little porch was just perfect and a little spot to add a little bistro table to enjoy a cup of coffee, along with some accessories and little plants, how cute is the plant below it is called a Georgia Peach Pie and it is the same shade of pink as the door, just perfection!
Now let’s head inside and get cozy …
I wanted the space to feel inviting, somewhere to come to relax, wind down, read a good book or just listen to the rain {which sounds amazing and is the most relaxing sound out here by the way!} Most of the pieces I found second hand from vintage stores, marketplace and I added a lot of items I had collected over the years and then some new pieces to bring the whole look together, I really wanted it to feel like the pieces had a story and had been collected over time.
Hello from the outside …. everyone wants to come visit!
This brick wall was a labour of love, what started as red brick panels turned into this with a little paint, spackle, and white wash they became the focal point of the space. I love them so much I have been trying to find a spot in our home to add this feature to!
The little tea trolley tucked in the corner was the first piece I purchased and I loved the neutral checked pattern, the muted gold wheels and of course the opportunity to have something to pull out and host a little high tea, or cocktail hour, I knew it was a piece I couldn’t pass up.
Birthday flowers from a bouquet I received from one of my best friends, all dried and displayed in the prettiest little glass box.
We added these great little nooks for a plate rack and a little set of display shelves to hold some accessories, serving pieces and of course books, I just love how they turned out. Also can we take a minute for this planked ceiling, and the beams we decided to leave uncovered to give the room some height. Oh and how could we forget the bead board below which deserves its own spotlight!
I love how this little clock has a similar look and feel as the mirror with its ribbon and bow detail, which tie in perfectly with the vintage candle wall sconces.
When I saw this vintage styled bust I knew I had to get her, I have always wanted to display my Little Women book and she was just perfect to display on top of it.
I added this little peg rail under the window on this side to hang little scissors for clipping flowers, the sweetest vintage apron, a little clip board art print, and a basket of books and garden markers, it was the perfect touch to this corner.
I also chose to add this little shelf to the roof line to have another spot to display some old and new pieces to bring this curated look together, this was a last minute decision and I’m so glad we added it in.
So there you have it the cozy, little She Shed all complete and ready for entertaining friends and family, and of course a quiet spot to get away and relax. I can’t wait to add decorations for different holidays throughout the year, can you not see the pumpkins on the porch in the fall and a little Christmas tree in the winter, it’s going to be so much fun!
I also have to say a big thank you to my dad and my husband Tommy for all of their hard work and help to bring this little dream of mine to reality, I could not have done it with out them! I learned so much and feel like a few little solo projects could be in my future. I hope you have enjoyed the tour of the She Shed and it gives you a little inspiration to make a cozy space of your own, whether it is a shed, or even a little nook or corner in your home we all deserve a little spot to relax and unwind.
Bye for now, till next time you will find Penny and I right here spending time in our little corner of the yard!
